[†] A long time in the making... It's took nearly three weeks to get this written, not because it's long, or because I've had anything else to do, but just because I've been lazy and procrastinating my time away, but enough of this shite and on with the show: †[†] Visited three gigs in 3 nights I'm not sure why, but going to gigs can be rather draining, it's probably all the excitement channelled into one night, and all the energy that's used up in just that one night, how bands tour, night after night after night, is beyond me, I guess it's different being on that side of the stage lights, but for me it's always been tiring just being there... Heavens only knows why we decided to attend 3 gigs in a row (it started as a visit to see my Mother, then there was one band, then two and finally a third), but it was brilliant! The first band was on the Night of the day we arrived, I didn't sleep the night before (as per-usual with exciting events, Vicky says I'm “like a child before Christmas”), so we were wreaked once we got to my Mother's, and we slept a short wile before heading out to the did, then we headed to Bolton and had a Drink in The Alma (though we were still feeling the “We're Never Drinking Ever Again!” feeling from after our Halloween party, so it was just one drink) before heading off to find The Sound House, but it turned out it was just round the corner, and was starting late, so we headed back to the Alma for a bit (meeting my Nephew: Gee, on the way)...
[Saturday 3rd: Gig Number 1 - The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster] It was in a small venue in Bolton, a converted warehouse, it really was surprisingly small inside, there was three (or maybe just two?) local support bands first of all, they weren't awful but they weren't my taste (and I'm afraid to say that I don't remember their names), I keep nearly falling asleep, but woke up in time for :The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster: I was really glad to get to see them for the first time, Vicky had seen them twice before, their music has a real swing to it, but it was a shame that the Sound Tech at the venue was awful! At least everyone seemed to be having fun (though they also seemed to be on a fuck load of 'E'), it's a shame there was no good merch (besides a t-shirt), we atleast hoped for their new E.P. Afterwards we went back to Gee's for his bonfire and fire works, it was AMAZING... Then we headed home for some much needed sleep...
[Sunday 4th: Gig Number 2 - Angelspit] We really didn't know where the gig venue was, though we should have as it was just across from Forbidden Planet in the Dry Bar, we found it and knew we were in the right place as there we several 'Goth' looking human-thingys lurking around outside (does 'goth' have a plural, such as “a Murder of Crows”?!?), just as we arrived a guy (who we would soon learn to be the guitarist for the first support band) came out and said to go inside as they were setting up inside, we went in and got a drink, and then after a while we headed downstairs to the tiny basement for the gig (and to buy a few bits of merch)...Novus:UK: The First band wasn't too bad, not at all, great music, though the sound system didn't help the singers voice, but once she got going it was all good! The had the most members of any of the bands that night: Singer, Guitarist and Drummer...
Deviant UK: A scary big bald man, with the voice of Gary Numan, or at least the vocal fx of the aforementioned. Very good, with a rather nice sound, played by another bald guy at the back of the stage...
Angelspit: Oh, only just first heard them a week or so before the gig, and really liked them, so it was wonderful that the gig was on the day we wern't doing anything in Manchester... They had a Theremin type thing, I think that besides a couple of random noise making things they played everything from tape, but the Vocals of both singers were brilliant... We got some really good pictures (specially of Angelspit, but more on that in a bit) Afterwards it was close enough to the piccadilly gardens bus station, that we didn't need to rush, but we just wanted to head 'home' for a good sleep (Via a take away in Walkden called Mario's, for some lovely kebab meat, though only Vicky got some I helped eat it)...
[Monday 5th: In The Day Time] Oh, shite! I deleted all the pictures from the previous two gigs off of the Camera, we only just got it working so I'd never used it before and was messing about with the menu, when I was viewing the used space on the memory card I never noticed that is said ”Format” in the corner, I just though that selecting ”OK” would take me back to the main menu... As it said ”please wait”, I waited and then it said ”No Image”, my heart sank, I tried clicking everything to see if I could reverse what I had done, that's when I noticed the format message on the memory card usage screen... After telling Vicky what I had done and feeling like total shit, we decided to wait and see if my theory that we'd be able to find a data retrieval program online, so we never took it to the Wednesday 13 gig...
[Monday 5th: Gig Number 3 - Wednesday 13] Oh, this was an adventure, we hadn't got a ticket, as with all the bands above, but this one was completely sold out, we had said that we wouldn't pay more than £40 for a pair of tickets, if it was over this there was always the Amen gig up the road or Saw 3 in the cinema... But it didn't work out that way, we arrived and found a Ticket Tout (though we were loathed to use one as we'd been conned the last time we used a Scalper), and after a bit of small talk while waiting for his ”mate who has two tickets left”, we were offered two of three tickets that the other guy had for £80 (a massive £40 each!?), but the first tout was on our side and haggled the tickets for us for £65 the pair, this was a final offer, so we took it (thank fuck, we did, as watching the touts, there was honestly no tickets and they were selling as soon as they got any)... As we qued up the singer from the support band was passing out flyers and badges, very friendly... Once inside we found out why Wednesday had sold out, it was in the smaller of the Academy venues: Academy 3...The Support Band: Hmm, not very good, forget their name, and I'm too lazy to find the flyer... I still stick with my theory on the support bands that are picked for Wednesday 13's tours are always rather rubbish, just to make His band seem like rock gods, is still in effect...
Wednesday 13: It was nice to see friends who we used to always see at the Wednesday 13 gigs in Manchester, 'tis a shame no-one was in a dress though, *laughs* oh, those old days are long gone I guess... Anyways we were standing at the back, enjoying the show, I wasn't able to head bang as I had a sore back, but I enjoyed watching the young'uns smashing seven shades of shit out of each other in a mosh pit that lasted through the whole set right in front of us (it annoyed some people, but most took it all in good fun, I stick by my opinion of ”if you don't like it: Move Away”)... I'm always the worst for remembering the set lists, but it was a really good set, even if it was very Murderdolls heavy... Vicky and I felt so old, as we used to be right at the front, sweating, getting squashed and being sweated on, but now we just stand at the back, drinking... I was surprised that so soon after his accident, Wednesday even played guitar on a few of the slower songs! I'm really glad that this wasn't the first Wednesday 13 tour of the UK that we missed, it was worth every penny... Afterwards we headed home in a very happy mood (and once again visited Mario's, though this time, oddly for someone that doesn't like it, I also got some kebab meat for my tea)...
[Tuesday 6th: Going Home ] We finally got to do a bit of shopping on the way home, specially stopping off at X-Records in Bolton for our usual root around for quality CD buys (a load of singles and a couple of albums)... We also had a nice trip around the usual places in Manchester (Oh, I could still spend millions in Affleck's Palace and never have everything I wanted to buy, never mind the other shops around that area)... After a long journey home, we finally returned to our lovely Cats (who we missed loads)... †[†] and that Ladies and Gentlemen, is the end of this tale... I'm hoping to bring a slice of new style to my journal when I once again update... Other News: why are my psychiatrists all idiots? And I've finally got back onto my medication... I need to play more computer games... My first Science Exam (Biology) is next Thursday, though on my last mock exam I just managed to get a D... And that is the end, for now... †Buy For Now: ♥ → Wm.
